About Me:

Mr. Kyriako Anastasiadis

Physical Education, Health Education, & Coach

Graduate from Northeastern Illinois University
Type 10 Certification (K-12)

I am a physical education and health teacher who loves coaching football and track. I graduated from Northeastern Illinois in the spring of 2011. I did my student teaching at Adlai E. Stevenson High School and worked there for one year before being accepted by the Academy of Urban School Leadership. I am extremely passionate about teaching and physical education. I believe that a healthy body makes a healthy mind, and a healthy mind makes a healthy body. Through life defining moments that have taken place in my life I know that I was out on this Earth to be a teacher. I am excited for the laughs, tears, challenges and good memories this year will bring my fellow residents and I.

My Teaching Philosophy:

My name is Kyriako Cary Anastasiadis. I am a graduate from Northeastern Illinois University with a baccalaureate in physical education and a minor in health education. I chose physical education and health education as my area of focus because physical activity, sports, and a healthy life style has, and always will be, a large part of my life. I wanted to choose a career that I know I will love and enjoy waking up to every morning and teaching is that career path. My college career and a life defining moment during my student teaching experience helped cement my decision to becoming a teacher.

Throughout my academic years, I have come across unforgettable teachers and professors that have been influential mentors. These individuals helped pave the way in my life and I feel it is my turn to give back in the same way. My goals and philosophy as a future educator are a reflection of the impact my mentors had on me. As a physical education teacher, I will promote physical wellness in my students by instilling in them a desire for physical activity, knowledge of healthy lifestyles, and an understanding of the human body and its systems.  I will strive to educate my students deeper than just the words and topics in the textbook as a health teacher. Implementing team-building activities that require effective communication, leadership, and decision-making skills will develop teamwork and promote life skills in my adventure education classes. As a coach, I will exemplify a strong work ethic for my players so that they can be dedicated, disciplined, and wise decision makers of the future, which would make for a true winning season.
